IN THIS SECTION
The Department of Mathematics and Science Education encompasses five undergraduate divisions: Biology Education, Science Education, Physics Education, Chemistry Education, and Mathematics Education. Within the Division of Mathematics Education, two distinct programs are offered: Mathematics Teaching and Elementary Mathematics Teaching. At the graduate level, Master’s and Doctoral programs are available in Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Education. In addition, a Master’s program is offered in Elementary Mathematics Education. The department provides instruction at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The principal objective of the undergraduate curriculum is to equip prospective teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and science for service in secondary schools with the fundamental knowledge and competencies required in their fields. In the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, and science, students are afforded the opportunity to consolidate and expand their theoretical knowledge through practical engagement in specialized laboratories. The overarching aim of the department is to furnish prospective teachers with current knowledge and professional expertise, thereby preparing them to serve as effective guides for their future students.
